The time of year we always get excited about… Chelsea Flower Show.
We were thrilled to be asked by our client Dubarry of Ireland to help them dress not only their stand at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show but also to come up with an installation for Chelsea in Bloom – the competition that runs alongside the flower show that sees the best retailers, restaurants and hotels of Chelsea turned into something fabulous by the best florists in the business.
We were delighted to have partnered with Hamish Mackie, internationally acclaimed wildlife artist, for our take on this year’s theme ‘floral safari’.
Our installation included one of Hamish’s handsome bronze leopards who climbed through a frame of African safari inspired flowers and out of the grasses of the savannah. The colour of the flowers are inspired the colours of the famous African sunset.
In store featured another of Hamish’s beautiful bronze leopards stalking through grasses.
We were very honoured to be awarded with a Silver from the RHS for our Chelsea in Bloom display and 4 Gold Stars for the Dubarry of Ireland stand within Chelsea Flower Show.
We were thrilled to work with Dubarry of Ireland again this year for their entry into Chelsea in Bloom.
The world class alternative floral art show which is produced by the Cadogan Estate in association with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), transformed the streets of Chelsea from the 23rd to 28th May with breathtaking floral displays. The annual competition has grown dramatically each year with Chelsea’s best retailers adorning their shop fronts with creative designs to compete for the coveted awards.
This year’s Chelsea in Bloom theme is Carnival, inspired by the Rio Olympics.
In true Dubarry style we incorporated the essence of the British country carnival with the colours and vibrancy of the Rio Carnival.
Our Dubarry ‘carnival boot’, was specially designed and made for Chelsea in Bloom and takes centre stage onboard our carnival float made out of an old market barrow. The Dubarry carnival float is filled with beautiful Festuca Glauca grasses with a large floral fan centrepiece (with tropical foliage, blue delphinium, pink peony, pink veronica and orange asclepia) inspired by the great British countryside with which Dubarrry is synonymous, and this year’s tropical carnival theme.
And don’t forget to meet our carnival queen mannequin with her bright floral skirt and headpiece with pheasant and peacock feather – the brightest Dubarry girl in Chelsea!

Rose Hamson has struck Chelsea gold for her luxury country clothing clients Dubarry of Ireland.
Chelsea Flower Show now spreads its influence beyond the showground to a prestigious floral display competition for the upmarket retailers around Sloane Square, with this year’s theme being fairy tales.
In contention for awards with brands such as Fendi, Smythson and Lulu Guinness Rose’s design imagined that ‘the old woman who lived in a shoe’ had upgraded her home to an iconic 5ft high Dubarry boot, made out of flowers, plants & natural materials, set in a woodland glade. The design retained the ramshackle informality of illustrations from childhood, while making the boot beautiful, and the garden in front of the boot tidied up in honour of the best flower show in the world.
Rose’s gold award winning design has delighted her clients: “To win gold in such company is an enormous thrill, and our customers really love the wit and imagination of the display” says manager of Dubarry’s flagship store on Duke of York Square, Katie Condren.
Rose commented “Our flowers for Dubarry’s trade stand at the Chelsea flower show also won the judge’s approval, with a brilliant four gold- star award, so it has been a truly exciting week for my talented team.”
Rose’s designs featured foxgloves, roses, thistle, succulents, ferns & ivys.
