Rose Hamson has struck Chelsea gold for her luxury country clothing clients Dubarry of Ireland.
Chelsea Flower Show now spreads its influence beyond the showground to a prestigious floral display competition for the upmarket retailers around Sloane Square, with this year’s theme being fairy tales.
In contention for awards with brands such as Fendi, Smythson and Lulu Guinness Rose’s design imagined that ‘the old woman who lived in a shoe’ had upgraded her home to an iconic 5ft high Dubarry boot, made out of flowers, plants & natural materials, set in a woodland glade. The design retained the ramshackle informality of illustrations from childhood, while making the boot beautiful, and the garden in front of the boot tidied up in honour of the best flower show in the world.
Rose’s gold award winning design has delighted her clients: “To win gold in such company is an enormous thrill, and our customers really love the wit and imagination of the display” says manager of Dubarry’s flagship store on Duke of York Square, Katie Condren.
Rose commented “Our flowers for Dubarry’s trade stand at the Chelsea flower show also won the judge’s approval, with a brilliant four gold- star award, so it has been a truly exciting week for my talented team.”
Rose’s designs featured foxgloves, roses, thistle, succulents, ferns & ivys.
